Greetings Adventurous Montessori Families,

There is something about Thursday mornings that gets the class focused and on task.  Today was no different, I have more work to correct tonight than Monday and Tuesday combined (it’s a good problem to have).  As the year continues my goal is that everyday is as productive and peaceful as Thursdays (particularly the mornings).

One reason this might to true this week is the stellar field trip we had yesterday.  We learned about Helena’s water usages from start to finish.  The kids were all on excellent behavior and I believe had a memorial experience.  I’ve posted some pictures and questions to ask about the trip on our Facebook page, I hope you enjoy.

Due to the productiveness of some students, many kids are getting the chance to have more and more personal choice time.  Students are beginning to work on research project, get in a little extra math or reading, conduct experiments, or play strategies games.  We might even have an ‘explosion’ tomorrow, but don’t work they’re writing things down, so it’s science and not screwing around (this comes from a quote from Adam Savage on our Science Shelve).

Finally, tomorrow we will start our Dia de los Muertos studies.  This will be our focus in Social Studies for the rest of the month.  We are starting early because of our short week next week and STARBASE the following week.  October is going to be November in a blink of an eye.

Thanks for reading.  As always, if you have any questions please let me know.

Cheers,

Tony
