October Counselor’s Corner

Second Step Social Skills classes have begun in kindergarten, upper Montessori, and 3-5th grades. This month we are focusing on being good learners, respect and empathy, respecting similarities and differences and ourselves. Ask your student what they are learning in social skills and please reinforce those skills at home.

Helena Food Share kid packs are sent home on Fridays. If you want to opt out or if your student is not receiving one and would like to, please contact me at 324-1240 or sberg@helenaschools.org.

Are you experiencing a transition and lack adequate shelter? Please contact me for available resources.

Angel Fund applications are available October 1 in the main office or in the counseling office. The Angel Fund program supplies school appropriate clothing for students receiving free or reduced lunch and are attending school regularly.

Central students will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 26-30.  The 2015 theme is Respect Yourself: Be Drug Free! Students will celebrate the week by dressing up each day, decorating their classroom door, and watching a Sooper Puppy Video.

PARENTS NEEDED!!  Students will be participating in Kids College the week of November 3-7 in conjunction with Montana’s College Application Week.  Please consider sharing your talents, career, or interests with students. Contact me or your students’ teacher if you are interested in participating in any way. Thank you!
